Governor Oyebanji’s Persistent Efforts Pay Off with Federal Road Project Approvals in Ekiti State

The Ekiti State Government has expressed its excitement and profound gratitude over the recent approval by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for the construction of two major road projects: the Ado-Ekiti-Ifaki-Ikole-Omuo-Kogi border road and the Ado-ABUAD-Ijan-Ilumoba road.

This landmark decision, which was confirmed during Monday’s FEC meeting, promises significant relief for the people of Ekiti, who have long endured hardship due to the deteriorating state of these crucial roads.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the approval is seen as a resounding victory for the government and people of Ekiti State.

“This is a vindication of our persistent efforts over the past two years, as well as a testament to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering support for the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji,” the statement reads.

The Governor’s dogged pursuit of the projects, including numerous visits to Abuja and active engagements with relevant federal agencies and National Assembly committees, played a pivotal role in securing this approval.

Governor Oyebanji’s relentless advocacy, along with interventions from prominent Ekiti leaders, has finally paid off, bringing hope to the long-suffering road users in the state.

While work on the Ado-Ikere-Akure road has already reached an advanced stage, the announcement of the additional projects further underscores the federal government’s commitment to addressing Ekiti’s infrastructure challenges.

As contractors prepare to mobilize to the project sites, the government is appealing to the public, especially motorists, to exercise patience and understanding during the construction phase, which may cause temporary inconveniences.

Governor Oyebanji reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare and development of Ekiti State.

“We remain steadfast in our mission to collaborate with federal institutions, agencies, and private entities to ensure the continuous socio-economic and infrastructural advancement of our state, in line with our shared prosperity agenda,” the statement added.
