The Ekiti State Government has assured commercial motorcycle operators (Okada riders) that it will subsidize the cost of reflective jackets aimed at enhancing security and curbing criminal activities among riders in the state.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Kehinde Kolawole Ajobiewe, gave this assurance while addressing Okada riders who gathered at Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado Ekiti. He clarified that the previously rumored price of ₦8,000 for the jackets, as announced by an individual, was inaccurate.

He emphasized that the government would significantly reduce the cost when the initiative officially begins.

Highlighting the importance of the reflective jackets, Ajobiewe explained that the measure is designed to help security agencies and other stakeholders identify and track down criminals who disguise as Okada riders to carry out unlawful activities.
He assured the riders that this initiative is in their best interest and will contribute to a safer operating environment for law-abiding motorcycle operators.
Furthermore, Ajobiewe reaffirmed the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji-led administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of commercial riders in the state.

He urged them to continue supporting the governor as he remains dedicated to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti.
The commissioner noted that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader efforts to enhance transportation safety, security, and economic growth, ensuring that Okada riders can operate in a more structured and secure environment.
