A former member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Ayodeji Àjàyí, who represented Ise/Orun Constituency at the 6th Assembly, has commended the current 7th Assembly for ushering in a new era of legislative dynamism, transparency, and innovation in the state’s governance process.
Speaking at an event commemorating the second anniversary of the 7th Assembly in Ado Ekiti, Hon. Àjàyí expressed admiration for the achievements of the legislative body, describing them as a beacon of hope and progress in Nigeria’s democratic space.
He noted that the Assembly members have lived up to the expectations of their constituents, fulfilling their mandates with dedication and responsibility.
The former Deputy Chief whip of the 6th Assembly, praised the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, for his visionary leadership and commitment to modernizing legislative processes through the integration of technology.

The former lawmaker highlighted that this tech-driven approach has not only enhanced legislative efficiency but also earned the 7th Assembly national recognition as the most innovative state legislature in Nigeria.
“The Speaker has demonstrated exceptional leadership and foresight,” Àjàyí stated. “By embracing technology, he has transformed how the House conducts its affairs, setting a standard for other legislative bodies across the country.”
Hon. Àjàyí, who currently serve as a member of board of the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority, commended the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, for fostering a conducive environment that allows the Assembly to operate independently and effectively.
According to him, the governor’s respect for legislative autonomy has played a vital role in ensuring that lawmakers can truly represent the interests of their people.
He further emphasized the strong and productive collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government, which he believes has been instrumental in driving sustainable development and good governance in Ekiti State over the past two and a half years.
“The synergy between Governor Oyebanji and the 7th Assembly is a model of cooperative governance,” Àjàyí remarked. “It has led to the formulation and implementation of policies that directly benefit the people of Ekiti.”
In a bold endorsement, the former legislator also used the occasion to declare his support for Governor Oyebanji’s continued leadership, advocating that the governor be allowed to remain in office until 2030.
He argued that consistent leadership under Governor Oyebanji would ensure the consolidation of ongoing developmental strides across the state.
“As a stakeholder in the Ekiti project, I firmly believe Governor Oyebanji deserves to continue beyond his current term,” he said. “His inclusive governance style and visionary leadership have already transformed the state, and more progress can be achieved under his continued stewardship.”
The event, attended by lawmakers, political stakeholders, and civil society groups, served not only as a reflection on the Assembly’s achievements but also as a call for sustained collaboration in driving the state’s socio-economic development.
