As concerns over declining moral values and ethical erosion continue to dominate societal discourse, Islamic scholars have emphasized the need for a renewed commitment to Quranic teachings as a pathway to restoring discipline and righteousness.
They made the call at the fourth edition of the annual Quranic recitation competition organized by PRO Communication in Ilupeju Ekiti.
Speaking on The Significance of Al-Quran, guest lecturer Ustaz Muftaudeen Salaudeen lamented that the Quran’s influence on society has waned compared to past generations.

He described the holy book as a divine guide that fosters moral rectitude, advances civilization, and provides solutions to societal challenges, stressing that strict adherence to its teachings would promote individual excellence and societal progress.
Ustaz Salaudeen also emphasized the importance of effective Quranic education, urging teachers to go beyond rote memorization and ensure students understand and apply the lessons from their recitations.
Corroborating this, the Imam of Ilupeju Ekiti, Alhaji Soliu Kuranga, called on parents to prioritize their children’s Quranic studies, noting that a solid spiritual foundation would help them navigate life’s challenges with wisdom and integrity.

The initiator of the programme and Executive Officer of PRO Communication, Alhaji AbdulRazaq, Hamzat reiterated that the competition was designed to promote Quranic literacy and safeguard the moral and spiritual future of young people.
Alhaji Hamzat equally encouraged parents to actively invest in their children’s religious education to instil godly values from an early age.

The event, which featured the presentation of free turbans to imams as well as prizes and certificates to outstanding participants, was well attended by the chief Imams From Ire Ekiti, Oye Ekiti, Isan Ekiti and FUOYE, the Alasalatus in Ilupeju as well as other prominent members in the society.
