The Director General of the Bureau of Local Content, Hon. Olalekan Ijidale, has directed his supporters to immediately halt all campaign activities linked to his potential bid for the Gbonyin/Ayekire State House of Assembly seat.
Ijidale gave the directive in a statement, urging both online and grassroots supporters to comply, describing the move as necessary to align with electoral laws and current political priorities in the state.
He explained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not yet lifted the ban on campaigns for state assembly elections, warning that any ongoing promotion of his ambition is premature and could violate regulations.
Beyond legal considerations, Ijidale stressed that the immediate priority for all loyalists is the re-election of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
According to him, ensuring the governor’s second term remains the most important political objective at this time, urging his supporters to channel their energy towards consolidating the administration’s achievements.
He also dissociated himself from individuals or groups who continue to campaign in his name, warning that such actions are unauthorized and against his directive.
Ijidale maintained that his focus remains on delivering on his responsibilities at the Bureau of Local Content, noting that he would not allow personal political ambitions to distract him from the mandate entrusted to him.
He, however, assured constituents in Gbonyin/Ayekire that there would be an appropriate time for political engagement, reiterating that for now, total support for Governor Oyebanji’s re-election should take precedence.
