Shettima’s Visit: Ekiti Announces Traffic Diversions Ahead of Flyover Commissioning

The Ekiti State Government has announced a temporary closure and diversion of traffic in parts of Ado-Ekiti ahead of the commissioning of the state’s second flyover bridge by Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday, June 9.

Commissioner for Works, Mr Sola Adebayo, said in a statement that the traffic arrangements were designed to guarantee security, ease movement of dignitaries and ensure the smooth conduct of activities during the commissioning ceremony.

He disclosed that roads leading to and around the flyover corridor would be closed to vehicular movement from midnight on Tuesday until the completion of the event.

According to Adebayo, motorists approaching from the Matthew area are advised to use the Irona route, while those coming from Irona should pass through Oke Bola and connect to the Access Bank axis.

Road users from Ajilosun are to divert through Agric Olope, while travellers from Akure Road should pass through Agric Olope and Matthew to link the Federal Polytechnic Road.

The commissioner added that motorists from Akure Road could also access the city through the Mobil, Ekute, Oke-Isa and Fajuyi routes.

He noted that traffic officers, security operatives and personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps would be stationed at strategic points to direct traffic and maintain order throughout the ceremony.

Adebayo appealed to residents and motorists to cooperate with traffic management officials, comply with all directives and plan their journeys ahead to minimise delays.

He thanked residents for their understanding, describing the temporary inconvenience as necessary for the successful commissioning of the landmark infrastructure project.
