Residents of Ilamoji Zone Two, located opposite the pavilion along the new Iyin Road in Ado Ekiti, have appealed to the Ekiti State Government for urgent intervention following a devastating flood that swept through the area after a heavy rainstorm.
Chairman of the community, Chief Jola Ogundare, who made the appeal in his “save our souls” message, explained that the downpour destroyed perimeter fences, flooded several buildings, and displaced many residents.

He added that those whose homes were severely threatened have since been evacuated.
Chief Ogundare attributed the incident to longstanding ecological problems, noting that residents had previously notified authorities about the risk of major flood damage if proactive measures were not taken.

He further revealed that the floodwaters, flowing from the Central Bank axis down to the Saint Lawrence area, had carved out a deep gully, collapsed a culvert bridge, and caused extensive erosion within the community.
The community leader urged the state government to visit the area, assess the level of destruction and take immediate steps to fix the situation before further damage occurs.
