The African Democratic Congress in Ekiti state says it will not hesitate to continue to accommodate new members in large numbers to the party as much as they have a strong political will to participate in elections and take over the affairs of governance.
In a statement issued at the party Secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the Chairman of the party, Pastor Ilesanmi Omolayo, said a lot of people have been coming to the Democratic Congress from different political parties with the ideology of participating in elections and gaining the affairs of governance.
He expressed delight and appreciation to the entire people of Ekiti state for their support and love shown to the party, emphasizing the commitment of the African Democratic Congress to equity and true democracy.
According to Pastor Omolayo, “It is heart-warming for us as a party, to receive new and existing members into the fold where a lot of hopes that have been dashed could be resuscitated and change the lives of the entire citizens for better opportunities through the positive outlined programmes of the party”
The party Chairman itemized the objectives and core values of the party, stating that it stands for equity, true democracy and commitment to empowering Nigerians and particularly the people of Ekiti state through inclusive administration, delivery of good governance, transparency and accountability.
He promised to promote a level playing field for all contestants in the forthcoming Congress at the state level, saying that all members, whether existing or new, have the opportunity to contest for any position and, as such, remained the guiding principle of the party.
The Ekiti ADC Chairman, however, appealed to members of the party to embrace unity, harmony and peaceful coexistence, stressing the need for them to put aside their differences and channel their efforts towards a common goal.
