Omoleye Congratulates Oyebanji on Re-election Victory, Hails Ekiti Voters, APC

Hon. Biodun Omoleye, representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II in the National Assembly, has congratulated governor Biodun Oyebanji on his victory in the governorship election held in Ekiti State on Saturday.

According to the official results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC),Governor Oyebanji polled 319,296 votes to defeat other candidates, including Dr. Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) who came a distant second with 40,543 votes, and Dare Bejide of the Action Democratic Congress(ADC) who secured 12,872 votes.

In a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, Omoleye commended the people of Ekiti State for reposing their confidence in the All Progressives Congress and Governor Oyebanji by re-electing him for another four-year term.

The federal lawmaker also extended his congratulations to the Deputy Governor, Christianah Afuye, and the APC. He noted that the Ekiti governorship election has set a benchmark for future elections across the country.

Omoleye further praised INEC for ensuring that the votes of the people counted, stressing that democracy is taking deeper root in Nigeria as voters continue to reward political parties and candidates through the ballot box.

He added that Governor Oyebanji had broken another record by becoming the first governor in the state’s history to secure re-election back to back while also recording the highest number of votes ever received in a governorship election in Ekiti State. According to him, this achievement further demonstrates the popularity and acceptance of the APC in the state.

The lawmaker urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory by extending a hand of fellowship to his opponents.

He also described the governor’s re-election as a call to greater service, encouraging him to consolidate on the achievements recorded during his first term in office.

“The Ekiti people have spoken clearly and loudly through the ballot box. I congratulate my brother and friend, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, as well as his deputy, on their victory.

“This victory is also a vote of confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has continued to deepen our democracy. It is a victory for our party, the APC, and indeed a victory for democracy,” Omoleye said.
