The Ondo State Government has constituted a Technical Committee to undertake a comprehensive review of the Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ) project as part of efforts to address legal, administrative and operational issues surrounding the initiative.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Governor Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa announced the establishment of the committee on Monday, saying it would examine critical aspects of the project and provide recommendations to guide the government’s next line of action.
The committee is chaired by Chief Bode Sunmonu, while the Chief Executive Officer of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA), Mr. Emmanuel Omomowo, will serve as Secretary.
Other members of the committee include Barrister Yinka Orokoto, Mr. Sola Adebisi, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Idowu Ojo, and Engr. Femi Akarakiri, Director at ONDIPA.
The committee has been mandated to operate under clearly defined Terms of Reference, including the review of legal matters relating to the project, engagement with relevant stakeholders, verification of land issues, management of community relations, coordination with neighbouring states and consideration of any additional matters that may be referred to it by the state government.
The move is expected to strengthen efforts towards repositioning the Olokola Free Trade Zone project for sustainable economic development and investment growth in Ondo State.
