Residents of Odo Ayedun and neighbouring communities have raised the alarm over the worsening condition of the Odo Ayedun–Omuo federal road, describing it as a ticking time bomb for both economic disaster and insecurity.
The road, which serves as a vital link between the South-West and Northern regions of Nigeria, has deteriorated to an almost impassable state, crippling transportation, trade, and movement of goods and services.

A concerned resident, Engineer Ayo Aregbesola, who lives on Ere Street in Odo Ayedun, told journalists that the road’s condition poses a grave threat to safety and livelihoods.
“It’s an economic and safety disaster waiting to happen. People face daily risks of accidents, armed robbery, and even kidnapping. This road is too strategic to be neglected,” he said.

He called on both the Federal Government and the Ekiti State Government to act swiftly, stressing that the road’s role in regional integration and commerce is too important to ignore.

The Odo Ayedun Concerned Citizens Forum, through a statement signed by its Director of Press, urged authorities at all levels to urgently mobilise resources for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the road.
The group emphasised that restoring the road would ease the suffering of commuters and restore the economic lifeline of the region.
