Ikere-Ekiti(Ekiti)Oct. 10, 2024 (NAN) A registered Nurse and midwife in the United Kingdom(UK), Mrs Ayoyinka Wilson, has urged Nigerians to give priority to their health and well-being.

Wilson gave the advice on Thursday during a free medical check-up and treatment organised for residents and Indigenes in Ikere-Ekiti.

She said any individual who has diseases in their body system should always endeavour to visit the hospital for regular treatment.

Wilson, who is the president of a non-governmental organisation called Enablers Diaspora Grassroot Support Outreach(EDGSO), urges indigenes and residents of the town to always engage in regular medical check-ups.

According to her, the objective of the NGO was to provide free medical check-ups and treatment for poor people and average individuals who can not afford medical treatment.

She explained that non-governmental organisations are equipped with qualified medical practitioners, drugs and food items to cater for the needs and health challenges of the less privileged ones in the community.

Wilson stated that some of the diseases being treated include hypertension, diabetes and other health challenges.

“I want to urge all indigenes and residents of Ikere-Ekiti to give priority to their health and desist from engaging in self-medication without a medical practitioner’s prescription.

” We are here in Ikere-Ekiti to give free medical treatment and drugs and treat individuals with hypertension and high blood pressure, among other diseases.

“We have drugs for 1000 participants that are available for medical check-ups, and free food stuff will also be given to the first 100 persons.

“Our medical practitioners will check the sugar level of all the beneficiaries and prescribe drugs accordingly.

“We will be giving out drugs to the beneficiaries that have diabetes and hypertension which will last for three months.

“I urge all beneficiaries to adhere strictly to the drug prescription given to them by our medical experts.

Reacting, The Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu, commended the commitment and determination of the organisation to improve the health conditions of the indigenes and residents of the town.

Oba Adu urged residents of the community to adhere strictly to the prescription of the medical practitioners on how to live a healthy lifestyle. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng).
