In a bid to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians, the management of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has approved a flexible payment plan for freshers in the 2024/2025 academic session.
According to a statement Signed by the Deputy Registrar/Head, Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs, Bode Olofinmuagun, fresh students are now permitted to pay 70% of their tuition fees in the first semester, with the remaining 30% to be paid in the second semester.
The decision, taken during a management meeting held on Monday, November 25, 2024, followed extensive consultations with the university’s Students’ Union and other stakeholders.
It also took into account the prevailing economic realities in the country and concerns raised by parents and students regarding the fee structure.
While the instalment payment option provides relief, the university has encouraged parents who can afford the full payment to do so without delay.
The management emphasized its unwavering commitment to student welfare, saying it is planning to deepen its engagement with stakeholders to explore additional measures to support indigent students.
As part of this effort, EKSU is in talks to roll out programmes that could alleviate the financial challenges posed by the new fee regime.
The university also reaffirmed its intent to help students benefit from the Federal Government’s Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme.
“Management will continue to ensure the promotion of robust relationships with all and sundry to make the teaching and learning environment conducive for its students,” the statement added.
