Former EKSU Students Applaud Prof. Fasina’s Leadership, Celebrate FUOYE’s 9th Convocation

Former students of Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, who had the privilege of learning under his tutelage at Ekiti State University (EKSU), have come together to celebrate his remarkable leadership and the success of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE)’s 9th Convocation ceremony.

In a statement jointly signed by their newly elected Chairman, Blessing Oluwaseun Adejoro, and Assistant Secretary, Abdulateef Yusuf, on behalf of over 300 members, the alumni lauded Professor Fasina’s transformative impact since assuming office as FUOYE’s Vice-Chancellor.

They commended the university for successfully graduating 8,444 students in a grand week-long event that featured project commissioning, free healthcare services, staff awards, and an endowment fundraising drive.

The ex-students took special pride in congratulating two of their own—Adesoji Gabriel, who earned a master’s degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture, and Ajayi Samuel Ojo, who was awarded a PhD in Soil Sciences and Land Resources from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.

They emphasized that these achievements reflect the solid academic foundation and mentorship they received from Professor Fasina during their time at EKSU.

“The success of this convocation underscores Professor Fasina’s visionary leadership and dedication to academic excellence,” Chairman Adejoro stated. “His commitment to fostering a stable and progressive learning environment, as well as securing accreditation for various programs, has elevated FUOYE’s reputation as a centre of academic distinction in Nigeria.”

The alumni also acknowledged the Vice-Chancellor’s strategic initiatives in broadening FUOYE’s academic landscape, particularly the introduction of new programs such as Medicine and Surgery, Data Science and Analytics, and various postgraduate disciplines.

They hailed the efforts as crucial steps in equipping graduates with the skills required to excel in today’s competitive job market.

They also applauded the significant infrastructural developments across FUOYE’s Oye and Ikole campuses, including the construction of modern lecture halls, state-of-the-art laboratories, and improved accommodation facilities, all of which contribute to a more conducive learning environment.

Beyond academics, the alumni recognized Professor Fasina’s commitment to staff welfare and research advancement, which have further solidified FUOYE’s standing in the global academic community, praising his efforts in fostering international collaborations and securing prestigious research grants.

“As proud former students of Professor Fasina, we wholeheartedly support his vision for FUOYE,” said Assistant Secretary Yusuf. “His track record speaks for itself, and we are confident in his ability to steer FUOYE toward even greater heights.”

The alumni reaffirmed their unwavering support for Professor Fasina’s leadership and urged the entire university community to rally behind his mission to further elevate FUOYE’s impact on the national and global academic stage.
