Kayode Ojo- Tinubu’s Decision Will Restore Peace in Rivers

Declares Interest in Ekiti 2026 Governorship Race

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Engr. Kayode Ojo, has expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.

Speaking on the national issue, Engr. Ojo stated that the President’s decision was necessary to restore peace and security in the troubled state.

He commended Tinubu for his decisive action, noting that it has helped stabilize the region, which had been tense in recent times.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, who confirmed his intention to contest the Ekiti State governorship election in 2026, described President Tinubu as a patriot and a nation-builder committed to safeguarding national assets.

He emphasized that the President would not allow any group or individuals to plunge the country into crisis or sabotage the nation’s vital oil infrastructure.

Engr. Ojo also dismissed opposition politicians planning to challenge President Tinubu in the 2027 general election, stating that they lacked the political influence and national appeal to win public confidence.

He urged peace-loving Nigerians to continue supporting the President’s administration to enable him to implement people-centered policies that would drive economic growth and prosperity.

Meanwhile, in preparation for the 2026 governorship election, Engr. Ojo announced the establishment of an exploratory committee comprising notable men and women to assess and strategize his gubernatorial bid.

He stressed the need for Ekiti State to align with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that he is well-positioned to serve as Tinubu’s development partner in Ekiti.

Ojo further highlighted his commitment to leveraging his global connections to transform Ekiti into an attractive investment hub, ultimately boosting development and economic growth in the state.
