Erinmope Kidnappings: Hon. Olarewaju Condemns Abduction of Five Women, Calls for Swift Action

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on National Assembly Matters, Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju, has strongly condemned the recent abduction of five women in Erinmope-Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, describing the incident as a deeply distressing assault on humanity.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Hon. Olanrewaju, a former representative of the constituency, expressed deep sympathy with the Okanlawon family, whose members were among those abducted.

He described the kidnapping of a nursing mother and a woman in the late stages of pregnancy as a grave attack on the community’s collective conscience.

He said no family should be subjected to the trauma of having their home violated and their loved ones taken away into the wilderness, noting the pain and anguish being endured by Mr. Muhammad Saliu Okanlawon and his entire household.

Drawing from his experience in public service at both constituency and national levels, Hon. Olanrewaju said the incident must be treated with utmost seriousness.

While commending the prompt response of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Ekiti State Security Network, Amotekun, the former lawmaker stressed the need for intensified intelligence-driven operations.

He expressed concern that the perpetrators may be hiding within or around the community to evade arrest, calling for enhanced community-based policing and collaboration with residents to flush out the suspects.

The presidential aide reaffirmed the commitment of both President Bola Tinubu’s administration and that of Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, to the protection of lives and property, describing security as the foremost responsibility of government.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies by volunteering useful information that could lead to the rescue of the victims; identified as Kehinde, Adijat, Hawawu and two women named Fatima.

Hon. Olanrewaju also offered prayers for the safe return of those abducted, particularly the expectant and nursing mothers, and assured the people of Moba Local Government Area of the government’s solidarity.

He affirmed that government would not fold its arms while innocent citizens are held captive for greed, pledging that efforts would be sustained to ensure the victims are rescued and that such incidents do not become a recurring threat in Ekiti State.
