… Dismisses SaharaReporters’ Claims
The Media Office of Hon. Ibrahim Olarewaju has faulted a recent report by SaharaReporters alleging irregularities in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, describing the publication as misleading and lacking factual balance.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the media office said the report titled “Disquiet in Ekiti APC Over House of Reps Primary as Members Demand Probe” relied heavily on allegations from unnamed sources without presenting the full facts surrounding the conduct of the primary election.
According to the statement, Hon. Ibrahim Olarewaju met all constitutional, legal and party requirements before contesting in the primary election.
The office clarified that Olarewaju resigned from his position as Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters on March 31, 2026, in line with directives issued to political appointees seeking elective office.
The media office stressed that the resignation was a matter of public record and could be independently verified through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
It noted that claims suggesting Olarewaju violated any legal provision by participating in the primary were false and unsupported by evidence.
Defending his integrity, the statement described Olarewaju as an accomplished legal practitioner with a strong background in constitutional law, noting that he has built a reputation for strict adherence to due process, rule of law and ethical public service.
It argued that given his professional background, it would be unreasonable to suggest that he deliberately violated the law.
The statement maintained that the outcome of the APC primary reflected the freely expressed will of accredited delegates from , and .
It described the process as transparent, democratic and conducted in line with party guidelines.
According to the media office, Olarewaju’s victory was the result of years of grassroots engagement, accessibility and commitment to party members and constituents, rather than any form of manipulation or irregularity.
While acknowledging that grievances often arise after competitive elections, the statement urged aggrieved aspirants and supporters to pursue concerns through internal party mechanisms and lawful channels instead of engaging in media campaigns capable of deepening divisions within the APC.
The media office also commended party leaders, delegates and members for maintaining peace throughout the exercise and praised aspirants who have shown political maturity by accepting the outcome in the interest of party unity.
Reaffirming Olarewaju’s commitment to the party, the statement said he remains focused on reconciling stakeholders within the APC and mobilising support ahead of the 2027 general election.
It added that his political vision is anchored on service, unity and respect for democratic principles.
The statement urged members of the public to disregard speculative claims lacking verifiable evidence, insisting that the APC possesses internal mechanisms to address legitimate concerns fairly and transparently.
It added that the party in Ekiti North Federal Constituency II must prioritise unity and collective progress, stressing that the interest of the party and the people should remain above individual ambitions.
