Adamawa APC Elders Close Ranks, Unveil Strategy for 2027 Elections

The Adamawa State Progressive Elders Council (APEC) has intensified efforts to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, unveiling a broad strategy focused on party unity, reconciliation and grassroots mobilisation.

At a high-level meeting held at the Government House, Yola, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, key political leaders and stakeholders deliberated on measures to consolidate the party’s structure and improve its electoral chances in Adamawa State.

The meeting, chaired by Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd), attracted prominent APC leaders including former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Barrister Boss Mustapha; former Governor Bala James Nggilari; Senator Abubakar H. Girei; and elder statesman Alhaji Dahiru Bobbo.

Also in attendance were Mrs Olvadi Bema Madayi, Senators Bello Tukur, Binta Masi Garba and Muhammed MoAllahyidi, as well as Ambassadors Fatima Balla Abubakar and Kevin Peter.

The elders reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, as leader of the APC in Adamawa State and commended his commitment to strengthening the party and promoting internal cohesion.

The group stressed that unity within the party remains critical to achieving success in the 2027 elections and called for sustained efforts to build consensus among stakeholders across the state.

As part of preparations for the polls, APEC proposed the establishment of an all-inclusive campaign council to coordinate mobilisation and campaign activities across Adamawa.

The group said the objective is to ensure victory for President in the presidential election and secure the election of Alhaji Tijjani Ahmed Galadima as the next governor of Adamawa State.

To strengthen campaign planning, the elders also adopted a data-driven strategy, including scientific surveys to assess the party’s strength and identify key areas requiring intervention.

Members were urged to serve as grassroots mobilisers and branding agents by engaging directly with voters and deepening the party’s reach at the community level.

The council also pledged to mobilise financial, material, professional and intellectual resources to strengthen party operations, while intensifying voter registration and membership drive efforts.

On internal party disputes, the elders acknowledged concerns among aggrieved members and emphasized the need for reconciliation to preserve unity ahead of the elections.

Brigadier-General Marwa said reconciliation efforts were already ongoing and yielding positive results, with local and state-wide engagements aimed at restoring harmony within the party.

In a statement after the meeting, Ahmad Sajoh, Head of Media and Publicity for APEC, said the council remains committed to strengthening the APC through unity, strategic coordination and effective grassroots mobilisation.

He added that beyond its advisory role, APEC is positioning itself as a major political force within the party, dedicated to securing electoral victory in Adamawa and contributing to national success in 2027.
