Popular Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died after battling stage-four cancer.
The actor’s death was confirmed by multiple sources, including colleagues in the Nigerian film industry who took to social media to mourn his passing.
Ogogo’s death came days after his daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, appealed to the public for medical assistance for their father, who had been undergoing treatment for the ailment.
On Monday, August 17, 2026, the sisters sought medical advice and assistance through social media, revealing the severity of their father’s condition.
According to Kaira, doctors treating the actor had informed the family that chemotherapy could no longer be administered because of his deteriorating condition.
The family subsequently explored other treatment options, including specialised medical procedures and traditional remedies, in a bid to save the veteran actor.
Ogogo was one of the prominent figures in the Nigerian film industry, particularly the Yoruba-language movie sector, where he built a reputation for his memorable roles and contributions to the growth of indigenous-language cinema.
