Sheikh Yayi Akorede, popularly known as Oko Oso Oko Aje and Balogun Oniwasi of Ekiti State, has felicitated with Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Maolud Nabi, urging Nigerians to emulate the virtues and exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
Sheikh Akorede called on Muslims and other Nigerians to promote love, unity, compassion, honesty, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, stressing that the teachings of Prophet Muhammad remain a guide to building a peaceful and harmonious society.
He also reminded Nigerians that death is inevitable, regardless of an individual’s position, wealth or achievements.
Referring to the recent death of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, Sheikh Akorede urged people to always remember the transient nature of life and make goodness, kindness and righteous deeds a priority.
The Ekiti-based Islamic leader prayed for the President-General of the League of Imams and Alfas of Southern Nigeria, Edo and Delta, Sheikh Dr. Jamiu Bello Kewulere, asking Allah to grant him wisdom, strength and success in his service to the Muslim community.
He also prayed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his re-election bid, as well as the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, wishing him continued success in office and in his second-term ambition.
Sheikh Akorede therefore urged Nigerians to use the Maolud celebration to reflect on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and strengthen their commitment to peace, love, unity and harmony, saying the society would be better if people lived their lives in accordance with the Prophet’s teachings and noble example.
