The Senator, who represents Adamawa Central, assured victims of the disaster that she remains deeply connected to the realities facing her constituents and understands the pain the flooding has caused.
She pledged continued engagement with local communities to assess vulnerabilities and pursue sustainable interventions to prevent future disasters.
“My heart goes out to all those impacted by the devastating floods in Yola, the loss of lives, homes and the displacement of families is heartbreaking. I share in the grief of our people during this difficult time,” Binani said.
Senator Binani emphasised the need for urgent support from government agencies and humanitarian organisations to provide immediate relief and facilitate the safe return of displaced persons.
She also raised concerns about potential health risks, including waterborne diseases and the possibility of dangerous reptiles being displaced by floodwaters.
The lawmaker urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate fully with emergency services and authorities managing the situation.
“It is crucial that we prioritise the safety and well-being of our people. I urge everyone to take necessary precautions and heed the warnings of authorities,” she added.
Reaffirming her commitment to long-term recovery efforts, Binani said she will continue to advocate for policies and programmes that protect communities from natural disasters.
