The member representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, Hon. Biodun Omoleye, has extended warm Easter greetings to the people of his constituency, Ekiti State, and Nigerians at large, calling on all to pragmatically demonstrate the spirit of sacrifice that defines the season.
In his goodwill message, Omoleye congratulated Christians in Ijero, Ekiti West and Efon Local Government Areas for the grace to witness another Easter celebration, which commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The lawmaker, who is also the Chairman House Committee on Nigeria-Canada Parliamentary Friendship, described Easter as a period for personal and collective reflection, urging Christians to uphold values such as love, unity, peace and selflessness for the progress of the nation.
Omoleye also congratulated believers on the successful completion of the Lenten season, 40 days of fasting, prayer and penance, describing it as a holy period that offers another chance for spiritual rebirth, renewal, and growth.
The federal lawmaker said, “The reason for the season is sobriety and deep reflection of individual relationship with God so that Christ’s sacrificial service would not be in vain”.
He urged Christians to demonstrate love not only to fellow believers but also to people of other faiths, noting that such gestures foster peaceful coexistence and national harmony.
The federal lawmaker further appealed to Christian leaders to remain steadfast in preaching Christlike virtues, emphasizing that self-awakening is essential to tackling the social and moral challenges confronting Nigeria.
Expressing optimism for a brighter future, Hon. Omoleye encouraged continued prayers for the peace, unity, and progress of the country.
He equally called for support for the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, noting that the governor deserved a second term in office, considering his landmark and impressive achievements in office.
The lawmaker heartily felicitates with all Christian faithful as they commemorate the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, wishing them a blessed and joyful Easter.
