Ekiti First Lady Promotes Adire Craft for Youth Empowerment Amid Economic Challenges

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji has encouraged the set of young people currently undergoing Adire training in the state, to be focused and attentive inorder to acquire the needed skills for the job.

The First Lady stated this at Adire Ekiti Hub in Ado Ekiti during the on-the-spot pot assessment of the ongoing 3-week training for youths and young widows across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.

The 192 trainees from Ekiti South Senatorial Districts were sponsored by members of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, in collaboration with the office of the First Lady.

She explained that artisanship, like Adire making, has become imperative due to the current economic situation of the country and, as such, would make the beneficiaries reliant, increase their income, and ensure an improved standard of living.

She noted that the products could be advertised on social media after gaining the required skills saying that if any of the trainees need help as touching materials for the business, they can always contact the hub for assistance.

The First Lady gave assurance that the trainees would be supported through the donations of some basic incentives needed to start their businesses.

“As the Initiator of Adire Ekiti, I am impressed by the comments of the trainers that the trainees are speedily learning with enthusiasm to become experts in the business of Adire making.

I appreciate the support of my husband, His Excellency Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to the hub for giving us a platform to train the young individuals who signified interest in Adire maker for them to be self-reliantiant and to be contributors to the economy of Ekiti State and Nigeria as a whole”. She added

In her Contribution, the Director General of the Adire Hub, Mrs Abimbola Oni, said the trainees have been cooperative and eager to learn and be skilful on the job.
