The Ekiti State Police Command has announced the arrival of top-ranking police officers to strengthen security arrangements ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
The officers, Supervising Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), DIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), AIG Olarenwaju Ogunlowo, were deployed by the Inspector-General of Police to oversee and coordinate security operations for the June 20 governorship poll.
Their deployment is part of efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to ensure a peaceful, credible, and violence-free electoral process across Ekiti State.
The senior officers are expected to supervise security personnel and monitor compliance with operational guidelines before, during, and after the election.
During an engagement with police officers and other security stakeholders in the state, DIG Mustapha stressed the importance of synergy, collaboration and effective coordination among all security agencies involved in election duties.
He emphasized that a unified approach remains critical to maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process.
The DIG also charged security personnel to demonstrate professionalism, discipline and strict adherence to the rule of law while carrying out their responsibilities.
He warned against any act capable of undermining the integrity of the election or compromising public confidence in the security architecture.
Appealing to residents, political actors, and other stakeholders, DIG Mustapha urged full cooperation with security agencies and called on all parties to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the exercise.
He assured the public that robust security measures, including strategic deployment of personnel and logistics, have been put in place to safeguard voters, electoral officials and election materials.
