The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly supplying arms, ammunition, and drugs to bandits operating in the state.
The NSCDC officer, identified as ACS II Maikano S/Tasha, was reportedly caught with a substantial cache of ammunition, including AK-47 rounds and anti-aircraft bullets, along with illegal drugs such as cannabis.
Among those also arrested were a fake doctor and two wives of notorious bandit leaders, all implicated in the delivery of ammunition to criminal elements.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Dalijan, made the announcement while parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Gusau.
CP Dalijan revealed that Maikano had been arrested two years earlier but had been released, assuring that the officer would face justice this time.
