The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully apprehended four notorious kidnappers responsible for terrorizing Abuja and its surrounding areas.
The suspects, identified as Yau Sani (alias Baba), Nuhu (alias Giwa), Kabiru Mohammed, and Yusuf Hassan, were arrested on October 1, 2024, during a coordinated operation at their hideout in Sauka, Abuja.
Yau Sani, an ex-convict, and his accomplices have confessed to their involvement in a series of kidnappings that spanned across the FCT, Niger, and Kaduna States, leading to the tragic deaths of seven victims.
According to a statement by the FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the gang was responsible for multiple high-profile attacks in areas such as Dakwa, Dawaki, Aco Estate, Dupe Village near Zuma Rock, and Kuchiko Village, as well as other locations in Niger and Kaduna States.
The suspects also led police operatives to another hideout in the Gauraka Forest, Suleja, Niger State, where a significant cache of arms was uncovered. The recovered items included four AK-47 rifles, thirteen magazines, and 162 rounds of live ammunition.
In their confession, the criminals revealed their plans to launch attacks on government institutions and residential estates within the FCT. Fortunately, these plans were proactively thwarted by the FCT Police Command.
The statement reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eradicating crime in the capital and ensuring the safety of its residents.
