The Federal Government, through the Livestock Productivity And Resilience Support Project, L-Pres, has expressed its readiness to upscale the production of broilers in Ekiti state and build a new abattoir with modern equipment in Ado-Ekiti.
The National Project Coordinator of L-PRES, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar, stated this during a courtesy call on Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, after the facility tour of the Livestock Development Centre in Erifun and Abattoir, Iworoko Road, Ado-Ekiti.

Alhaji Abubakar said the purpose of the visit was to assess the facilities and equip them with modern tools needed to function well to boost livestock production in the state.
He explained that boosting the production of broilers and piggery, as well as renovating the abattoir, would provide employment opportunities for the unemployed youths.
While speaking, Ekiti State Project Coordinator of L-PRES, Mr. Olayinka Adedipe, said the Livestock Development Centre in Erifun has the capability of serving the needs of institutions in the state.

Responding, Governor Biodun Oyebanji assured the L-PRES that Ekiti would not fail in its obligation towards ensuring that the project records tremendous successes in the state.
Oyebanji said the L-PRES initiative is in alignment with his administration’s pillar of shared prosperity, particularly the food production and Livestock development, adding that there were enough human and capital resources to transform the state agricultural sector.

He also stressed the need for the L-PRES to expedite action, particularly on the refurbishment and upgrade of the abattoir along Iworoko Road, saying the state is currently implementing logistics and strategies to rejuvenate agricultural activities towards ensuring food security in 2025.

The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, said the government had empowered handlers of Livestock production in various areas with the necessary skills to boost food production.
