Technical Advisors Highlight Roles in Governance, Emphasize Importance of Digital Communication in Ekiti

Technical Advisors to Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji have emphasized the strategic importance of their roles in governance and the transformative potential of digital communication in the state’s administration.

In an interview, the Technical Advisor to the Governor on Public Communication (Political), Akogun Tai Oguntayo, explained that contrary to some people’s belief that most of the appointments made by the governor in ‘assistant capacities’ were waste of resources, their primary responsibility is to serve as a bridge between the government and the people.

“The major assignment of Technical Advisors is to be on the ground, gathering and providing Mr. Governor with necessary information about what the people need, as he cannot be everywhere at the same time,” Oguntayo said.

He noted that their fieldwork involves identifying public needs and recommending practical solutions, which facilitates effective policy implementation, adding that the assignment enables vibrant service delivery and ensures the successful execution of the government’s programmes and policies.

Oguntayo acknowledged Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to leveraging digital communication to enhance governance and information management while praising the governor’s strategic appointments in both traditional and new media to effectively disseminate government policies and initiatives.

“The world has gone digital, and the governor’s team is making good use of this platform to drive his shared prosperity agenda,” Oguntayo remarked.

He, however, expressed concerns about individuals misusing digital platforms to spread misinformation and incite disaffection, urging them instead to offer constructive advice that could benefit the state.

“The governor is a visionary leader whose productive governance style is evident across the state. He is effectively using digital platforms to change the narrative of governance,” he said.

Similarly, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Strategic Engagement, Barrister Olú Aluko, described his role as providing honest advice on critical issues affecting the people.

He also lauded Governor Oyebanji’s inclusive leadership style, which he said recognizes and utilizes talent for the state’s progress.

Barrister Aluko equally commended the Ekiti State House of Assembly for pioneering digital legislative plenary sessions, making it the first in Nigeria to do so.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of Technical Advisors to the governor’s shared prosperity mantra, stating that their dedication would contribute significantly to the administration’s success.

Both advisors were in consensus that Governor Oyebanji had a brilliant vision for Ekiti State, describing him as a dynamic and diplomatic leader who fosters an environment where political officeholders can thrive and contribute to the state’s development.
