Fayemi Media Office Denies Amaechi Coalition Claim, Reaffirms Loyalty to APC

The media office of former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has dismissed as unfounded a viral claim allegedly attributed to former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, that both men founded the new African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition before bringing in other members.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Head of the Fayemi Media Office, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, the team said no credible evidence, including video footage or reputable media reports, supports the alleged remark, which has been circulating on social and digital media.

“In an era where fabricated or distorted statements are often attributed to public figures for malicious purposes, we are cautious about engaging with potentially manufactured controversies, adding that Amaechi may have been misquoted or the claim entirely fabricated,” the statement read.

Mallam Sajoh stressed that Dr. Fayemi remains a committed member and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State and has, on several occasions, publicly endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid.

“From time to time, Dr. Fayemi participates in conversations on deepening Nigeria’s democracy and tackling national challenges, but these discussions do not amount to defection or leaving the APC. If he were to leave the APC, he would make it public and not require a third party to do so,” the statement said.

Fayemi’s media team noted that while the former governor’s national visibility has reduced due to his engagements as a visiting professor at King’s College London and as founder of the Amandla Institute, he remains active in APC affairs in Ekiti, attending leadership caucus meetings and backing the governor’s candidacy.

The statement urged the public to treat any political news about Fayemi with caution, especially when sourced solely from social media.
