Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors elected on the platform of the ruling APC, national party leaders and thousands of supporters are expected in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday for the grand finale of the campaign rally in support of Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 governorship election.
The rally, scheduled to hold at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion along New Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti, is expected to mark the climax of an extensive grassroots campaign that has taken the governor’s re-election message to communities across the sixteen local government areas of the state.
Organisers described the event as a major political gathering aimed at demonstrating widespread support for Governor Oyebanji and his running mate, Chief Monisade Christianah Afuye.
They noted that the attendance of the Vice President, APC governors and other party stalwarts reflects the significance attached to the Ekiti governorship poll by the party leadership.
The campaign council said the rally follows a series of endorsements received by the governor from traditional institutions, professional bodies, market associations, artisans, youth and women groups, civil servants, retirees, religious leaders and other stakeholders across the state.
According to the council, the endorsements are a reflection of public confidence in the administration’s performance over the last four years.
The council highlighted achievements recorded in infrastructure development, education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, youth empowerment, security, tourism and economic growth, stressing that the administration’s inclusive style of governance has continued to attract support from diverse segments of the population.
It therefore called on party faithful and supporters to participate peacefully in the rally, assuring adequate security arrangements and describing the event as a reaffirmation of Ekiti people’s commitment to continuity, peace and sustainable development.
