As part of its humanitarian outreach, the Ekiti One Mind Lions Club, under Lions Club International District 404B2 Nigeria, has donated over 100 prescription eyeglasses to residents across Ekiti State.

The two-day free eye care programme was held at the EKSUTH Diabetes Centre and the Health Centre on Adeomi-Iyin Road, both in Ado Ekiti, and featured eye screening and vision testing for beneficiaries drawn from all 16 local government areas of the state.

Speaking during the distribution of the eyeglasses, Service Chairperson, Lion Chief Babatola Oluwalana, urged beneficiaries to make good use of the glasses and handle them with care to prolong their usefulness.

He explained that the initiative aligns with the club’s commitment to making life easier for underserved communities and would be sustained in future interventions.

Also speaking, Membership Director, Lion Princess Iyunade Akomolafe, said the project was designed to provide critical eye care support and enhance reading and vision among the elderly as well as other members of the public in need.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Iyaafin Arogundade Modupe and Pastor Ayodele Emmanuel, expressed gratitude to the club for the kind gesture, praying for continued strength and resources for the team.

The event also had in attendance members of the Ekiti Legacy Lions Club and Unique Lions Club, Ado Ekiti, who supported the initiative.

The Ekiti One Mind Lions Club was recently recognised with the Champion in Service Award for the 2024/2025 Lions Year, underscoring its dedication to impactful community service.
