In a bid to promote environmentally friendly and cost-effective fuel alternatives, the Nigerian government, under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, has introduced an online portal for vehicle conversion from Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
The initiative offers flexible payment plans, allowing citizens to convert their vehicles now and pay in manageable monthly instalments.
The new portal is accessible at gocng.ng simplifies the application process, ensuring quick approvals and continuous support for applicants.
This move is part of a broader strategy to encourage the adoption of CNG, which offers significant benefits such as cost savings, extended engine life, and enhanced safety.
The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi) had previously launched a free conversion programme in Lagos, aiming to provide viable alternatives to traditional fuel sources.
This latest initiative builds on those efforts, making the transition to CNG more accessible and affordable for all Nigerians.
The switch to CNG will help to reduce the environmental impact of vehicle emissions and promote sustainable energy practices across the country.
