Parents of a seven-year-old girl, Testimony Mosunmade Adebayo, have appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other well-meaning Nigerians for urgent financial assistance to save her life.
Testimony, who has been battling with congenital heart disease since birth, was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, a critical condition that requires open-heart surgery estimated at ₦8 million.
Her mother, Mrs. Alaba Folake Adebayo, said the family had raised five million Naira last year for the surgery through loans and support from relatives.
However, the cost later increased to eight million Naira and before they could proceed, Testimony developed complications in her lungs, forcing them to divert the funds to emergency treatment.
“Now we are back to square one. The doctors have told us that the surgery must be done urgently, and we only have this month of September to raise the money because of her deteriorating condition,” Mrs. Adebayo lamented.
According to her, the family had earlier written a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to Governor Oyebanji on September 13, 2024, but no assistance has been received to date.
Testimony is currently managed at the Afe Babalola University Multi-System Hospital, where her consultantpaediatriciann, Dr. O.E. Bello, also confirmed the urgency of the surgery in a letter dated March 21, 2025.
The mother explained that the family has been drained financially, as they spend sixty thousand Naira monthly on echocardiogram tests in addition to the cost of drugs to keep their daughter alive pending surgery.
She made a passionate appeal to government, philanthropists and the general public to come to their aid:
“We are begging our governor and all Nigerians to please help us save our daughter. She is in critical condition and we have exhausted everything we have.”
