In commemoration of International Youth Day 2026, Kids & Teens Resource Centre (K&TRC), in partnership with LYDIA Initiative, has sensitized adolescent girls and young people in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, on sexual and reproductive health and life building skills.
The one day community sensitization, held on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, was organized under the theme, “Empowering Adolescent Girls and Young Women for Healthy Lives and Brighter Futures.” The programme brought together young people for interactive learning, experience sharing and discussions aimed at strengthening their knowledge and capacity to make informed decisions about their health, relationships and wellbeing.
The technical session was facilitated by Dr. Tolulope, School and Adolescent Desk Officer, Ekiti State Ministry of Health, who provided participants with practical and scientifically accurate information on sexual and reproductive health, life building skills, healthy and unhealthy relationships, danger signs and appropriate steps to take when experiencing or witnessing sexual abuse.
Dr. Tolulope encouraged the young people to recognize potentially harmful situations, seek timely support and make informed decisions that promote their health, safety and future wellbeing. The interactive session also created an opportunity for participants to ask questions, share experiences and discuss some of the challenges confronting adolescents and young people in their communities.
The programme recorded 50 participants in attendance, while the available sex disaggregated record captured 40 participants, comprising 15 males and 25 females.
Speaking during the closing session, Mr. Peter, representing Kids & Teens Resource Centre, appreciated the participants for their active engagement throughout the programme and encouraged them to apply the knowledge gained in their daily lives and share accurate information with their peers and communities.

He also expressed appreciation to the management of Top Child School for providing the venue for the programme and commended the Executive Directors and Chief Executive Officers of K&TRC and LYDIA Initiative for their continued commitment to advancing adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights.
The International Youth Day activity forms part of ongoing efforts by K&TRC and its partners to equip young people with accurate health information, practical life building skills and the confidence to make informed choices, build healthy relationships and contribute positively to their communities.
