Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has officially declared his intention to seek a second term in office, calling on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to put party unity above personal ambition.
The governor made the declaration on Monday during a meeting with the Central Working Committee of the APC in Ado-Ekiti, where he was received amid fanfare by party leaders, women, and enthusiastic supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Oyebanji warned against the political missteps of the past that fractured the party and cost it dearly at the polls.
He urged members to guard against internal strife, assuring that the APC in Ekiti remains united despite speculations of division.
“I appeal to our leaders and members not to allow personal interests to override the collective interest of our great party. We cannot afford the mistakes of the past. I am committed to fairness in appointments, remuneration, and the general welfare of all party faithful,” Oyebanji said.
The governor also acknowledged the unwavering support of key stakeholders, including former governors Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, stressing that their backing reflects the unity and continuity the party requires ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Oyebanji expressed gratitude to party members for their encouragement, prayers, and the massive endorsement rally recently held in support of his administration and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his remarks, the APC State Chairman, Mr. Sola Elesin, lauded the governor’s inclusive leadership style, his infrastructural achievements, and consistent welfare programmes for both party members and citizens of the state.
Elesin further commended the ongoing construction of a new APC State Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, describing it as a landmark initiative that demonstrates Oyebanji’s commitment to strengthening the party’s institutional base.
